Individual therapy

  • I see High Sensitivity, Autism, and ADHD as neurotypes. They are not disordered, rather they reflect a nervous system and brain that is set up differently. Learning how your particular brain works — how it gets motivated, what fuels the attention system, how it processes sensory data, emotions, and memory — lets us understand you better. It gives clarity on your liabilities and needs, as well as your strengths and gifts.

  • People with neurodivergence often struggle with their self-worth, because they’ve long been moving through a world that wasn’t designed for them and often invalidates their experiences. Yet HSPs, Autistics, and ADHDers often have so much inner beauty and gifts to offer the world. It is my deep honor to be able to reflect their value and worth back to them, and to help them learn to see and embody this for themselves.

Many of the neurodivergent folks I work with also tend to be incredibly hard on themselves. Self-Compassion is a vital skill to learn. Growth, presence, and all of the things we long for are supported when we establish a gentle, kind relationship with ourselves, our pain, and our mistakes.

  • I help you get unstuck creatively, find ways to feed and nurture your creative self, or open back up to a passion or creative pursuit you may have put down at some point.

  • Postpartum Depression and Anxiety are common in new Moms and Dads. The brain undergoes major changes in pregnancy and postpartum that can lead to PMADs in those who are at risk, and re-trigger old “stuff”. Degree of social support and changes in identity are also contributing factors. I will support you through this wild and tender time, and help you find your way back to yourself.

  • We will determine the main elements — both internal and external factors — that give way to your Anxiety or Depression, and create a plan of how we will address them.

  • I help you take feelings or somatic responses and break them down — naming the individual components of emotion and anxiety that comprise your reactions. You will improve your capacity to hold your emotions and anxiety, and slow down the frenetic energy that comes with these. You’ll have more space and clarity, and improve communication with your friends and colleagues.

  • How we experience connection, love, community, and aloneness is integral to our overall wellbeing. We will work on improving your quality of relationships and your ability to give and receive care in meaningful ways.

  • Using concepts like psyche and Self, we dive deep into who you are, in terms of ego, identity, and personality, as well as transpersonal aspects of being human — what it’s like to have a soul, what it’s like to be conscious, and how can we use multiple layers of consciousness to support our healing.

  • I look at social aspects of our reality to understand how our suffering is located not just inside our selves, but also in the systems where we exist.

“I WISH I COULD SHOW YOU, WHEN YOU ARE LONELY OR IN DARKNESS, THE ASTONISHING LIGHT OF YOUR OWN BEING.”

HAFIZ

You are empathetic, bright, and creative. You are thoughtful, and have a good sense of humor. You’re driven, and love to learn.

Yet even with these strengths, you often feel not good enough. You’ve tried to be perfect. You’ve criticized yourself harshly.

You crave connection and aliveness - but you can’t seem to open up without anxiety setting in: Jitteriness and tension. Awkwardness, irritability, racing heart and relentless mind chatter. Paralysis and exhaustion.

I want you to know two things. 1: Others out there have similar struggles as you - you may feel isolated, but you are not alone. 2: Your pain is something you can address - feeling content is possible.

I support highly sensitive and neurodivergent people like you to overcome anxiety and depression — and enjoy calmer, fuller, lives.

I help you connect to and honor your emotions. In therapy with me, there is space for humor, pain, joy, anger, awkwardness, vulnerability, strength, and power. You will tear through self-doubt and come to know your value.

the process

Through a blend of mindfulness-based, psychodynamic and relational therapy, we’ll unravel the tangle of emotions you’re in, and help you cultivate the practices and awareness you need to experience life in a more fulfilling and joyful way. Here’s how:

CONNECTION

An authentic connection is vital to effective therapy. Our hurts, and so, also our healing, happen in the context of a relationship. We are in this together, and I consider our bond sacred.

LANGUAGE

Putting language onto what we have known, what has been seated inside of us but not spoken, brings relief. We begin to relax once we have uttered it. Once we name it, it is manageable.

BODY

Reintegrating our minds and bodies is key to experiencing our own wholeness. We’ll bring attention to how emotions are seated in the body, so that you can work with them.

COMPASSION

The only way to do healing work is with large doses of self-compassion. Compassion can be a softening, or having a fierce strength to protect ourselves or someone we love.

JOY

Grappling with the many crumbling aspects of the world right now is painful. It is more necessary than ever to protect joy. Even as we wade through the heaviness of the world, we can bring lightness to it

self-acceptance

Your freedom is only as great as your self-acceptance. I help you see yourself for who you truly are: deeply good, perfectly imperfect, and so worthy of love - just are you are, right now.

what to expect

01.

REGULAR THERAPY sessions

Our sessions will be an integration of psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and relational therapy. While I usually meet clients weekly for at least a year, we may adjust depending on your needs.
